Therapeutic Treatment Model

At Alafia Haven, our approach to care is grounded in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) — a trauma-informed, attachment-based model developed to meet the unique and complex needs of vulnerable children and youth.

TBRI® recognizes that children from hard places often come with a history of trauma, disrupted attachment, and unmet needs. In response, this model offers a path toward healing by creating safe, structured, and nurturing environments where trust and connection can flourish.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)

1

Who is TBRI for?

TBRI® is for children who have faced early adversity, trauma, abuse, neglect, or toxic stress. These experiences can make it hard for them to trust and connect with caregivers, often leading to confusing or challenging behaviors. TBRI® helps meet their unique needs by building trust, promoting healing, and creating safe, supportive relationships

2

Why Do we Use TBRI?

Children with histories of trauma often experience changes in their brain, body, behavior, and beliefs. Traditional care giving approaches may not meet their needs. We use TBRI® because it offers trauma-informed strategies that nurture the whole child—helping them feel safe, connected, and empowered to heal and grow
